Help us with sweet foster Lizzie's eye surgery.
Sweet foster pup Lizzie has had a rough start in life and we’d love to help her get her eye surgery. Let’s tell you a little about her.
Lizzie was found in a well as a puppy, discarded and left for dead she was found by the amazing Big Reds Animal Association in Spain. It was obvious that there was abnormalities with her eyes and vision but in addition she had a broken leg, which needed attention.
Lizzie was cared for and nurtured by the charity and healed beautifully from this surgery and although it was obvious that her vision was not as it should be, Lizzie’s character, adaptability and zest for life makes this at times hard to notice.
Lizzie was transported to the UK and adopted to a new family, sadly this wasn’t to be and she was relinquished only a few short weeks later.
This is when she was fostered by Georgie, the founder of Willow Tree K9. As our gift to her we scheduled her a speciality ophthalmology appointment and I have attached the findings here.
Although it is their opinion nothing can be done to improve her vision, she does have a condition called entropion, which is when your eye lashes rub your eyes, which can be very uncomfortable indeed.
Clinical Findings:
-
- Right eye: heterochromia iridis, axial corneal deposits (subtle), suspicion of cataract or partially detached retina (due to the extensive lesions and ophthalmic abnormalities, intraocular examination was limited)
-
- Left eye: heterochromia iridis, subconjunctival cyst at the ventrolateral conjunctiva (the origin of the cyst could not be identified)
-
Diagnosis: Bilateral multifocal defects (MOD) or merle ocular dysgenesis (MOD) Bilateral nystagmus
We would like to fundraise for this surgery for Lizzie, a dog like her with her existing disabilities should not suffer any discomfort at all. She is a happy, bouncy, sweet and lovely little dog who is not defined by her lack of sight.
We are hoping to improve her quality of life and hope to find her forever sofa.

We are trying to raise £800, her surgery has been estimated at £700 but any surplus after her medical expenses will be donated to Big Reds Animal Association.
